Friday, December 20 – Last Day Before Winter Break

School is in session through Friday, December 20 at 3:00 p.m. at Bush Elementary. Please make sure you’re sending your healthy child(ren) to school each day. School will resume on Tuesday, January 7 at 7:30 a.m.

Winter Celebration of Learning - Friday, December 20

Friday, December 20 is a full day of instruction. At 1:30 pm, we will begin our winter celebration of learning. No parent volunteers will be allowed in the classrooms during this time as we are still in an instructional window. Thank you, parents, for your understanding and for supporting our teachers with the items needed for Friday, December 20. We truly appreciate you.

Choir Program - Parents Invited

We will have Bush's Winter Choir Performance in the multipurpose room. Parents are welcome to enjoy the performance. Below is the schedule for each session:

  • December 17 at 9:00 a.m. – Choir Holiday Program

  • December 18 at 9:00 a.m. – Choir Holiday Program

All adults must show a government issued photo identification to enter the building.

Mr. Antolini and the Houston Symphonic Band

Our very own Mr. Antolini will be performing again with the Houston Symphonic Band on Sunday, December 15th. All are welcome at the show. The concert is free and open to all. 

December Attendance is Important

There are so many exciting activities happening at Bush Elementary in December.

Make sure your child(ren) is/are at school every day so they won't miss out on these and other learning experiences. If your child is sick, please have them stay at home.

Cool Temperature Dress Code Reminders

Now that cooler weather is finally in Houston, students need to continue to follow our dress code guidelines. Please review the highlights shown below from our Dress Code in the Bush Uniform Policy.

All items worn in the building must follow our dress code colors stated in our dress code policy.

Sweaters

Solid colored sweaters

Solid Khaki, navy, red, white

Solid colors with no embroidery.

Jackets worn in the classroom

Jacket, sweater, or sweatshirts Solid red, white, or navy

Official Bush logo fleece jackets are permitted.

Tights, leggings, and Pants

Tights, leggings, pants worn under skirts, shorts, or jumpers

Solid red, white, navy, blue denim or khaki

Leggings are permitted only under skirts, shorts, or jumpers, and cannot be worn by themselves as pants.


Lost and Found Must be Claimed by Thursday, Dec 19, 2024

We still have many jackets, sweaters, lunch bags, and water bottles at our Lost and Found area. Next Week, December 16-19, all lost and found items will be moved to the front of the school by the bike racks from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Please come during those times to look for your child's lost or missing items. After Thursday, December 19, any unclaimed lost and found items will be donated to charity over the winter holiday.

Drama Donation Request

Mrs. Miles is seeking scarves, pashminas, or large scraps of cloth for her drama classroom.  These donations will be used for draping and costume creation while students are in her class.  If you have any of these items at home that you would like to donate, please send them to school with your student, or place them in the box in the office.

Hazel Health

New Virtual Physical and Mental Health Services with Hazel Health

HISD has launched a new virtual health services program with Hazel Health. With Hazel Health, HISD students can speak with a licensed therapist or a medical provider from home or at school. Hazel Health offers scheduled appointments with licensed therapists and on-demand access to medical providers. For more information, please visit the following pages. Whether you choose to participate or decline, we ask all parents to complete a selection on the online forms. Every response is valuable and helps us plan effectively for our school community. BBE PTO Bike and Play Saturday + Spirit Event

Come play on the BBE school grounds!  The school will NOT be open.  We will also be selling snacks ($1-2). Cash and credit card accepted..

Afterwards join us for a Spirit Event at Taco Connection. Bush ES will receive money back!
