Bobcat Fund
Invest in your child.
Support the children of Barbara Bush Elementary.
Contribute to the future of our community.
We are excited to introduce the Bobcat Fund! Rather than purchasing school supply packs for the 2025-2026 school year, families will pay into the Bobcat Fund. Its purpose is to provide each student with essential school supplies, enrichment opportunities, and other valuable resources throughout their time at Barbara Bush Elementary.
At the heart of the Bobcat Fund are the impactful programs we support to ensure Barbara Bush Elementary remains a leader in education. Your contributions help fund resources that inspire our students and empower our teachers.
By paying into the Bobcat Fund for each of your students you will provide the following:
- Classroom school supply packs
- Enrichment Supplies
- Art supplies
- Field day t-shirts
- Music and drama supplies
- Red communication folder
- Health and safety supplies
For every 7 contributions to the Bobcat Fund, an additional student receives essential supplies and services - often one who needs it the most.
Last year, school supply packs cost between $60 and $80, depending on your child's grade level.
This year, we are making things easier by offering the Bobcat Fund for just $65—one price for all grade levels.
And it includes more than just school supplies!
The Bobcat Fund covers the supply pack plus other important items and activities your child will need for the school year.
This means:
-
One simple price
-
More value for your money
-
Less to worry about when school starts and throughout the year
Thank you for supporting our school!
The Bobcat Fund is non-refundable. All transactions are final.
Click here to pay into the Bobcat Fund TODAY and receive $5 off per student. Price will increase to $70 in July.
Bobcat Fund Q&A
- What is the Bobcat Fund?
- The Bobcat Fund was established in 2025 by the Barbara Bush Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (BBE PTO), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports the entire elementary school community. The Bobcat Fund’s purpose is to provide essential supplies for the classroom and enrichment, in addition to supplies for health and safety. Before the start of each school year, the Bobcat Fund will develop a set of goals that we plan to fund for the year so families will know what the cost will be and what is included.
- What does the Bobcat Fund support?
- For the 2025-2026 school year, through the Bobcat Fund, the BBE PTO provides:
- Classroom school supply packs (specific for each grade level - delivered directly to each classroom)
- Enrichment Supplies
- Art supplies (paint, art paper, dye, etc.)
- Field day t-shirts (white t-shirt for tie dying)
- Music and drama supplies (copyrights for songs and plays, costumes, props, instruments, etc)
- Red communication folder
- Health and safety supplies (kleenex, bandaids, ice packs, police officer during safety week, etc)
- Why is the BBE PTO starting a Bobcat Fund now?
- All of the items listed are things that the BBE PTO already pays for, or ask families to pay for. Either way, we are supplying all of these items to the school at some point in time every year. The Bobcat Fund allows the BBE PTO and families a way to streamline all of these things into one cost and one event instead of multiple costs and multiple events. The Bobcat Fund is just starting now because it took a lot of research and data analysis to bring this together by some dedicated volunteers.
- Why can’t I just buy school supplies? Why do I have to pay for the other items?
- Please see the previous question. All of the items listed in the Bobcat Fund are items that students need to attend Barbara Bush Elementary and families are already being asked to pay for these items in some way. You may not realize you are paying for these items when you attend the school fundraisers or pay PTO membership dues or purchase birthday book club for your child. All of these items are crucial to every students success at Barbara Bush Elementary therefore, it is important for every student to pay into the Bobcat Fund.
- Can I receive a refund if my child(ren) does not attend Bush Elementary in the 25-26 school year?
- All transactions are final. No refunds will be given. We encourage all families to pay into the Bobcat Fund when they are 100% sure their child will attend Barbara Bush Elementary next year.
- What if I cannot afford to pay into the Bobcat Fund?
- We understand that every family has different situations and not all of those allow to pay into the Bobcat Fund. If this is your situation, please reach out to Ms. Calix, the school counselor, for a confidential conversation. Ms. Calix can be reached by email at jennifer.morenocalix@houstonisd.org.
