Bike Rodeo

We will be hosting a Bike Rodeo, which is a fun family centered event.  Kids (and adults!) are encouraged to ride their bikes, scooters, etc. to campus and enjoy riding around the track and through our obstacle course.  A representative from Texas Children's Hospital will be present to give Bike Safety Information as well as do helmet and bike fit checks.  

Street Sign Dedication

As a part of our Barbara Bush 100th Birthday Celebration, we are renaming our bus lane and dedicating it to Barbara Bush.  The sign reveal and dedication will take place at 10:15 and we will have light refreshments available.  This event is open to our community and members of the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation will be present. 

100 Butterfly Plants

100 Plants for 100 Years!!  The Blue Butterfly has been chosen as an icon to commemorate Barbara Bush's 100th Birthday.  The Blue Butterfly represents hope, good fortune, personal growth, inspiration, and joy.  The butterfly also symbolizes the “butterfly effect” that Barbara Bush created throughout her lifetime in championing literacy as a fundamental human right and helping others transform their lives through the power of learning how to read.  

In our Nature Center, we will be planting 100 butterfly plants to honor Ms. Bush and to bring butterflies to our campus for students to enjoy for many years to come!

Barbara Bush was actually known as a bit of a "foodie!"  In addition to tex-mex, she also loved PIZZA!  She even has a pizza dedicated to her- Chicken, spinach, mushrooms, artichokes & garlic.   We will be having a Spirit Event at our local pizza parlor, Russo's New York Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen on Eldridge.  Be sure to mention BBE PTO and we will receive a portion of the sales as a donation back to our school.

Barbara's Birthday Bash

Barbara Bush's 100th Birthday Bash!

April 1 - May 29

The Barbara Bush Elementary staff and PTO, in conjunction with the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation, will be hosting a celebration for Barbara Bush’s 100th birthday. Former First Lady, Mrs. Bush would have turned 100 on June 8, 2025.

We will be having several events beginning April 1 and the students will have a Big Birthday Bash on May 29!

Beginning April 1, we will be sharing facts about Barbara Bush on morning announcements and on our social media.  The choir will also be singing patriotic songs on the announcements.  We will have decor around the school including a replica of Barbara Bush's dress that was worn at her husband, George Bush's, Presidential Inauguration.
